RE: Sponsorship for Upgrades and extensions of Kennels.
The staff at the SPCA 'Randburg is dedicated to the prevention of cruelty to animals and preserving the balance of nature and its animals. To this end, we rely substantially on donations and sponsorships to assist in running costs as we are a registered NPO and do not get funding from Government organizations. We however are contracted to the environmental Dept ( as a pound ) which grants us per year a small insignificant amount which barely covers the contract this lasts a maxim of 3 months.
During the last two years at least seven SPCA's have had to shut their doors around South Africa and the latest is Krugersdorp our neighbor, in 2014 we tabled projects for 2015 unknowingly that Krugersdorp SPCA would close and now these projects have become an urgent reality and a necessity. We have to build more kennels in order to accommodate the increasing number of animals that come in from the 'Randburg and surrounding areas.
We are involved with the recovery of strays on a daily basis and the public deliver strays to our premises. This applies to unwanted pets. It is our responsibility to have these animals sheltered and not turn them away, and currently we are in a position where we cannot afford to purchase such items as cement and building materials such as steel and fixtures due to our overheads. Our projects include 2 more rows of dog kennels, 5 cat runs, storage facilities, dog exercise runs, boundary walls and a fenced garden for compatibility for adoptions.
With this noted we thank Cloete's sand for their continuous sponsorship, donations and above all their passion for the SPCA 'Randburg, without the support of Cloete's sands these projects would never have been started. The supply of building sand and stone is a crucial element to building and Cloete's sand supplied us without hesitation and continue to support us throughout our endeavors.
